Waiting for the lye mixture to cool so I can put together a blue swirl batch. I'm putting milk soaps aside for the moment - the one I did with the ice cubes of milk worked ok, but during curing time it has discoloured ugly brown - and there was no fragrance oil so I don't know. Oh well. take a step back, re-build my confidence a bit, then try again!

today i made the turkish delight soap I was planning. Didn't go according to plan (surprise surprise!). After I split the soap and was colouring one chocolate and one with raspberry mica, the pink started getting thick but the chocolate just wouldn't thicken up, so it wouldn't coat the inside of the milk carton properly. So I chucked most of it back in the pot as an ITP swirl but then when I was pouring that into the carton I stupidly used the funnel i was going to use to make sure the pink stayed down the centre of the carton, so the pink and brown has all melded together. I'll see how ugly it is when I unmould it tomorrow!

*drool*... they do sound good enough to eat Nat. I think I'm reaching the point where DH is going to start questioning the amount of soap i'm making vs the amount we're using. oh well! Very Happy

I'd be really interested to hear the results. My whole soap making thing came from wanting to make my own shampoo bars. I'm one of the apparently few people that shampoo bars work really well for. I'm testing my first batch now, but things I've read since I made it make me think it might be too drying - on soap calc it shows pretty good conditioning but fairly high cleansing as well.

how long have you trialled it for in the past? I know with me (and i've heard others report the same) that when you first switch your hair can be fairly manky for up to a couple of weeks. With me it improved after only a few days, but others say it takes longer.

The batch I made, i created the recipe myself. I'd post it, but my soap stuff is in my DS's bedroom. It had a few special ingredients because I get eczema on my scalp so I wanted to see if I could help that.

I can wash my hair with 100% coconut made with goat's milk. I still need to follow up with normal conditioner though.

Use apple cider vinegar as your final rinse after using soap as shampoo. Have been using soap as shampoo for years now, would never go back to that chemical rubbish. ACV is smelly, but works wonders on fly-away hair & is great for eczema.
