    Welcome to Aussie Soapers!

Post by Ally on Thu Sep 09, 2010 1:27 am

    Hi everyone.

I'm Ally! I've set up this forum after spending time on US soap making forums reading about things that just aren't relevant to us soapers downunder. I'm fairly new to soap making myself, so I don't have all the answers, but figured it would be good for us to have a place to talk about our own conditions, suppliers, business regulations, etc.

I would love it if you post a little introduction, and feel free to recommend us to anyone you know who is interested in soap making whether it be as a hobby or a business.

Look forward to seeing you around! Very Happy

Thanks Coral, I'm glad you think so! Now we just need to get the word out there and let people know where we are. If you have any friends who are into soap making in any form, feel free to let them know about this forum.

HI there, I am Bel from Country Belle Soaps in WA. Have only been making and now selling soaps for the last 6 months when I finished full time work and now this is my new career. Absolutely love it. While I try not to spend too much time on the computer researching, I am finding there is just so much in soapmaking and my imagination is inclined to run a bit wild after spending so many years doing management and admin work. Now is my time.

Hi Ally, so nice to find a forum that isn't predominantly American.....total confusion regarding sourcing some of the ingredients/materials they use!

drunken Hi Ally, Thanks for starting this forum and accepting me into it. I'm not a young woman, but have always had an interest in homemade soaping (actually anything homemade) since I watched my grandmother in the early 1960's make it from scratch after cooking the Sunday roast, something she and her mother and grandmother and great grandmother had been doing for decades.I found it fascinating how she didn't waste anything.. including the jelly with the fat when it went cold in the cast iron baking pot and the coals under it. She was one of the last from our Australian pioneering generation born in the 1800's. I love it when I see younger ones taking an interest in something that use to be a household requirement. (But today it is a choice in most cases)
