I think Lynnz is probably our resident expert with those gorgeous textured tops she does!

I think you're on the right track though... Some moulds will have a lid that sits above the level of the soap, so you might be able to use one of those without it touching the soap and flattening the whole lot out. Also, I think gelling will soften the soap, possibly to the point of the texture basically melting back into the body of the soap.

Hey Miss Natty I dont gel my soaps so after the texturing I pop into the fridge...........I have periods where I get ashing and I honestly believe both fragrance and humidity play a big part but I have learned to embrace that :0) I have attempted to cover in the past and have just ruined the tops so leave it open now :0)

Yes it still becomes soap but I think non gell gives a nice creamy look and the other thing you will find is your soap is softer and will need a good full 6wk cure probably

I texture some of mine and have a lid that sits on top of the mould. I almost always wrap for gel and don't get squished tops this way. Smile

ok so i have only made one batch but i put mine in a silicon mould and thought the same thing so i just put a Tupperware lid on the top as the soap wasnt all the way to the top and then did the wrapping of the towels..a few peaks hit the lid but mostly worked ok....

Am I missing something.. I am new to this forum and have been reading some of the posts. There are several from MissNatty and they all say the same thing -nothing. Should I be clicking on something? I dont mean to be rude but I am confused as to what is going on. cheers Helen
